Resurfacing Work Continues- Expect Traffic Delays
ATLANTA –Work crews for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will resume nighttime lane closures on I-285 westbound next week near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Clayton County to continue resurfacing activities between Conley Road and Airport Tunnel. Drivers are encouraged to plan for additional travel time, use alternate travel modes or find alternate travel routes.
Weather permitting, next week’s lane closures will be:
- Monday, March 11 and Tuesday, March 12 – single lane closure on the I-285 westbound Collector-Distributor (CD) lane, shoulder and ramps, beginning at 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following morning.
- Wednesday, March 13 and Thursday, March 14 – single lane closures on the I-285 entrance and exit ramps to Old Dixie Highway, beginning at 9:00 p.m. through 5:00 a.m. the following morning.
Lane closures are needed to keep work crews and drivers safe as the roadway milling and paving operations continue with large equipment on-site. This work is designed to improve the roadway’s surface condition. Message boards, signage and barrels will alert drivers of the closures in advance.
As always, motorists traveling in the area are reminded to reduce their speeds in the work zone. Motorists are also encouraged to wear seatbelts, eliminate distractions behind the wheel, and plan their routes before getting on the road by calling 511 for real-time information on work status and traffic conditions
